Occupy Your Slumlord!

Occupy Slumlord is a fighting arm against corruption on the local level. Wall Street bankers may use and oppress the little people, but perhaps a more direct assault upon folks’ livelihoods comes from corrupt landlords (slumlords).

The typical definition of a ‘slumlord’ is one who rents out substandard, barely livable property and who doesn’t make any attempts at maintaining said property. In other words, a slumlord is a person who takes one’s hard earned money and who laughs all the way to the bank.

As the world economy implodes, there has been a substantial increase in the cost of food, oil, and rent. If ever there were a time for the shenanigans of slumlords to cease outright, now would be that time.

Occupy Slumlord recognizes housing as a fundamental human right and strives to bring this issue to the forefront of debate. In the meantime however, Occupy Slumlord makes it a point to show respect to good, honest landlords who properly manage their rental properties.

OccupySlumlord.com allows visitors to post their slumlord horror stories and to interact with other renters via the forum.  On a sporadic basis, we will feature the best user submitted slumlord horror story and offer valuable input pertaining to one’s rights as a renter. (*Features coming soon)

Occupy Slumlord was established in the summer of 2012 by artist Grant J. Kidney. Our group stands in solidarity with the greater Occupy Wall Street movement as well as with other social activist organizations.
